The mother shared a series of photos of herself during her pregnancy, the first being when she first felt pain in her ribs.

She wrote: “She has a very sore rib in the last few months of her pregnancy.”

Bethany then shared a photo of her pregnant stomach, writing: “She makes a joke about having a foot stuck in my ribcage.”

Finally, Bethany shared a photo of her daughter shortly after the birth.

She added: ‘Turns out I had a foot stuck in my ribcage. And everyone thought I was being dramatic.’

More than 128,000 people who saw it were quick to say that they had had a similar experience during pregnancy or that this was “enough to discourage them from having children.”

‘Me too! My little one came out with talipes on both feet. Apparently very easy to adjust to physio,” wrote one commenter.

Others said they didn’t even know this could happen.

‘OMG my jaw hit the floor! I didn’t know this could happen! You must have been in agony,” wrote one person.

Another added: ‘I didn’t sit here at 36 weeks complaining of constant rib pain. I hope your little one is fully healed, but thanks for the new discovered fear.

Rib pain during pregnancy is usually felt on one side, just below the breast or on the side of the chest.

The pain can sometimes radiate to the back. It usually starts towards the end of the second trimester (around 27 weeks) and into the third trimester (28-40 weeks).

Causes of rib pain include the growing baby, kicking or changing the baby’s position, heartburn, inflammation, and hormonal changes.
