The mall next to MetLife Stadium in New Jersey was evacuated due to a bomb threat just hours before the Jets play the Miami Dolphins in the NFL’s first-ever Black Friday game.
Around 8:15 a.m. Friday morning, New Jersey State Police issued a public safety alert telling visitors at the American Dream Mall, including employees, to evacuate.
Then, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy wrote in a post on X – formerly known as Twitter – that police were investigating a threat and that shoppers should evacuate “out of an abundance of caution.”
However, about an hour later, he notified citizens, telling them that police said there was “no immediate threat” and that the mall could reopen.
The American Dream Mall is a huge shopping and entertainment complex in East Rutherford.
