New Jersey Devils associate coach Andrew Brunette arrested for drunk driving in South Florida… as the team enters the All-Star break

New Jersey Devils associate coach Andrew Brunette was arrested in Broward County, Florida for driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Brunette was booked into Broward Main Jail Wednesday on one count of first offense DUI, as well as two counts of running a stop sign or yielding.

The arrest took place in the city of Deerfield Beach, where Morena has two prior speeding violations, according to WPLG in Miami.

Brunette pleaded guilty to going 58 mph in a 40 mph zone in May 2022 and was taken into custody for going 27 mph in a school zone. The latter case was dismissed, while the former resulted in Brunette paying a $260 fine.

In a statement to DailyMail.com, a New Jersey Devils spokesperson said: “We are aware of today’s reports regarding associate coach Andrew Brunette and are currently in the process of gathering additional information.”

Brunette spent last season as the interim head coach of the Florida Panthers, after the team parted ways with coach Joel Quenneville when his role in the Kyle Beach scandal was revealed.

Brunette led the Panthers to the best season in franchise history and the team’s first playoff win since 1996.

The Panthers did not retain Brunette for this season and hired Paul Maurice to replace him.

The Devils had just played their last game before the All-Star break, and the All-Star Game was held in Sunrise, FL.

Brunette spent last season as the interim head coach of the Florida Panthers, reaching the playoffs in the most successful season in franchise history.
