New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu reveals who he would ‘love’ to see Trump pick as his Vice President and why he wouldn’t take up the offer

Republican Governor Chris Sununu revealed that he believes Donald Trump should choose Nikki Haley as his running mate, and if he were offered the vice president himself, he would turn it down.

Sununu spoke exclusively to DailyMail.com at the Reagan Institute Summit on Education in Washington, DC about the big decision ahead of Trump: selecting his running mate.

He thinks the “polarizing” Trump needs a strong, bipartisan, relationship-building partner so he can achieve a “record of results” for Americans.

“I think she would be great,” he said of Haley joining Trump’s ticket in second place.

The New Hampshire governor, herself known as a bipartisan builder, spent a lot of time with Haley as he paraded through the early voting state and ultimately endorsed Trump.

Haley received 43% to Trump’s 54% in the Live Free or Die state, but it wasn’t enough for her campaign to unseat the former president.

But when asked if he would consider joining the Trump administration if he won, Sununu replied flatly “no.”

“It’s not a Trump thing,” he replied when asked by DailyMail.com whether he would accept an invitation from Trump to become his vice president.

“I just have no interest in coming to DC. I mean, I’d be honored if anyone ever considered me for something like that. That would be an incredible honor,” he continued.

But he said his family “has no intention of coming to D.C., to be honest. But I think it would serve the entire country well, whoever the next vice president brings, first and foremost that quality.

“I mean, given Trump’s position, it’s very polarizing to have a partner in the White House.”

Sununu had blasted Trump many times during his campaign, citing his “advanced age” and saying the president “contributed” to the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.

Trump has called Sununu a “loser” who makes “really bad TV,” effectively excluding him from the vice president shortlist.

Sununu said Mike Pence was a good VP pick for Trump in 2016 because he is very conservative, but that he always had a “great reputation” for working across the aisle and “getting things done” in Congress and as governor.

Despite their tumultuous history, Sununu said last month he would support Trump by voting for him in November — because Biden’s alternative in the White House is too much of a risk.

His comments came the day after former Governor Nikki Haley revealed she will vote for Donald Trump in the 2024 election.

Her public support comes despite Trump calling her a “bird brain” and mocking her outfit choices on the primary campaign trail.

She explained that because President Joe Biden is a “catastrophe,” supporting Trump is the only choice.

“After saying that I stand by what I said in my suspension speech… Trump would be smart to reach out to the millions of people who voted for me and continue to support me, and not assume that they will just do that. with him,” she said in a speech at the Hudson Institute on Wednesday.

“And I really hope he does,” she added.
