On the eve of Samsung’s Unpacked 2023 event, multiple leaked images of the upcoming Galaxy S23, S23 Plus and S23 Ultra smartphones have surfaced on the internet. We cover all the Galaxy S23 news on our Samsung Galaxy S23 events live blog (opens in new tab).
The pictures come from Twitter user Dylan Xitton (opens in new tab) who discovered the devices in a Chilean electronics store. It looks like certain retailers will be showing the phones a day before the official unveiling on February 1.
Of course I have an extra bunch of photos here, the Chilean mobile carrier (Wom) said the phone would be released in Chile in a month, I was surprised to see it on the shelf lmao pic.twitter.com/07ga0Ob9OPJanuary 31, 2023
The user reportedly posted a video of himself handling the S23 Ultra model, but it has since been removed by Twitter after Samsung filed a copyright claim on the footage. So all we’re left with are images of the line from different angles.
Galaxy S23Ultra
These images give us a sneak peek at some of the S23 Ultra’s hardware. The marketing table shows that the phone will come with a 6.8-inch QHD resolution (2560×1440 pixels) display and at least four cameras. We can spy packaging for at least two of the rumored colors: Phantom Black and Botanic Green.
At first glance, the phone looks very similar to the Galaxy S22 Ultra, but according to Dylan Xitton (opens in new tab), there is a slight difference. He claims the S23 Ultra’s screen isn’t as curved compared to the S22 Ultra, with the new device having more pronounced edges. The user also says that writing notes feels more comfortable on the S23 Ultra
Add authenticity
No new information is available for the other two models. Much of what Dylan Xitton showed in his photos was nothing new as a recently leaked spec sheet of the Galaxy S23 line has already revealed the information contained in it. The Twitter thread basically confirms the spec sheet.
What’s a little disappointing is that we didn’t get a peak on the new features Samsung is putting into the Galaxy S23 line. The company recently improved the pest night photography on S23 Ultra and a new Pro mode for selfies. Nothing about new game features or a special partnership with Google. We know so much about the Galaxy S23’s hardware, but very little about the software.
Everything will be revealed soon. If you’re curious about what Samsung’s new flagship phone brings at launch, be sure to check it out TechRadar’s coverage for the Galaxy S23.
