Manchester United fans praised Casemiro after seeing him brutally shout out rising star Alejandro Garnacho during Sunday’s 1-1 draw against Chelsea.
United’s worst ever start to a season in the Premier League continued as Ruud van Nistelrooy enjoyed his first top flight as interim boss, which ultimately ended when Moises Caicedo canceled out Bruno Fernandes’ opener.
There were chances at the death for both teams, with Garnacho, Fernandes and Joshua Zirkzee all wasteful in front of goal in United’s first league match since Erik ten Hag was sacked as manager.
Garnacho – who recently finished sixth in the Kopa Trophy rankings for the best under-21 players – has been the club’s most potent attacker during a disastrous start to the season, but still needs to improve his decision-making and finishing.
Such an example occurred in the 85th minute against Chelsea, when United broke forward on the counter-attack in a three-on-two situation, quickly putting bodies behind the ball for Enzo Maresca’s side.

United’s Argentine youngster tried to protect the ball as he turned away from goal, but instead of retaining possession, he tried to play a lazy pass back to Casemiro as Chelsea winger Pedro Neto charged to intercept.
Neto then crossed the halfway line and appeared to close in on United’s goal, with Garnacho sparking a brief chase before giving up in poor fashion.
An already tired Casemiro was then forced to intervene, fouling Neto and receiving a booking for his troubles before turning to vent his frustrations towards Garnacho.
Viral footage shows the Brazilian veteran shouting at his younger teammate and berating him for his lack of effort, which also angered United supporters in attendance at Old Trafford.
Casemiro could be seen shouting at Garnacho, clenching his fists and then turning to walk away from the 20-year-old, while also glaring in his direction.
The youngster cut an embarrassed schoolboy figure after being told he had been verbally abused and watched Neto roll around the pitch, but later made up with his teammate at the end of the match.
United fans were eager to praise the former Real Madrid star for his reaction, with one supporter posting on X: ‘Deserved that reaction from Casemiro.’

Another added: ‘Casemiro’s legs may be gone but Man Utd need a lot more Casemiros in their dressing room.’
A third United account wants more players to call out similar lazy efforts, adding: ‘I agree. We need more of this from players and the new manager. Too many players don’t take responsibility for their actions.’
Meanwhile, another supporter slammed Garnacho for becoming ‘selfish’, adding: ‘I’m not even sure if they go back and own their mistakes because they never improve. Watch him make the same mistake the next game. Man is becoming too selfish.’
Both players will have to quickly adjust to the increased demands placed on them by new manager Ruben Amorim, who is tasked with reviving United’s season after a terrible run of results.
