New England Revolution has apologized after a selection of its supporters were annoyed after an enthusiastic junior staffer sent an unauthorized email about next season’s game against Inter Miami.

With the Lionel Messi fever raging across the MLS world, the Revs are understandably trying to capitalize on the momentum, which led to the sales rep sending a misleading email to a roster of Revolution fans.

A letter of apology has since been sent to those fans, explaining that it was both a misguided mistake and “not in line with our organization’s objectives.”

The junior staffer’s earlier email highlighted Messi’s great form since joining Inter Miami.

Mention was made of his rampant scoring form – ten goals in seven appearances – followed by ‘that means you have a 100% chance of seeing the Argentine score here at Gillette Stadium next season.’

Inside Sales Manager Marc Rogers then apologized to Revolution fans in a follow-up email shared with Mail Sport on Tuesday.

“On behalf of the New England Revolution, I would like to apologize for the email you received with the subject line ‘Secure Lionel Messi Tickets Today’,” the latest email read.

“While we are happy that our team will be going up against Inter Miami CF and Lionel Messi, the message and tone of this email did not match the objectives of our organization.

“Jonathan is a new representative and sent this email without direction from the organization. Jonathan’s message was misleading as he got caught up in the hype of a great Leagues Cup final.

“As a former cardholder, I want to reassure you that our staff’s focus has always been on growing our fanbase to create a gameday atmosphere that helps the REVS win!”

The employee has since been punished. When the first email appeared on X, some Revs fans disagreed with Messi’s enthusiastic praise.

“This is possibly one of the most embarrassing things I’ve ever seen from a football club. “Buy tickets to our game so you can see the opponent’s score,” one user wrote.

Another suggested that Robert Kraft’s football team — he owns both the Revs and Patriots — would never advance such rhetoric.

“‘Come watch Aaron Rodgers slice up our defense like a Christmas roast!” — the Patriots, never.’

New England currently ranks second in the Eastern Conference standings – 25 points above Inter Miami.
