A man is in hospital after being shot four times on a suburban street.

Police were called to Winston Hills in Sydney’s west about 10.50pm on Wednesday after reports of a shooting.

Officers discovered a man had been shot four times across different parts of his body when they arrived at Dale Place.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the 28-year-old man at the scene.

He was subsequently taken to hospital in serious but stable condition.

The 28-year-old is under police guard in hospital.

A crime scene was established and specialized forensic police investigated the crime scene.

Shortly afterwards, a Jeep Grand Cherokee was found on fire in Northmead

Officers were also called to Redbank Road in Northmead after reports of a car fire at around 11pm on Wednesday.

Officers found a burning Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV.

Despite the efforts of Fire & Rescue NSW, the car was destroyed.

A second crime scene was established and the car was seized for forensic examination.

The investigation is still ongoing and police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
