New details emerge about Latrell Mitchell’s ‘take it outside’ confrontation with Braith Anasta – as footy greats tear into TV host over the clash

  • Mitchell dissatisfied with the perceived negative coverage of Rabbitohs

New details have emerged about Latrell Mitchell’s public feud with Braith Anasta as Fox Sports TV’s identity was roasted by his colleagues over the recent ‘incident’ at a posh Sydney restaurant.

Anasta, 42, was dining with his family at Chin Chin in Surry Hills on May 15 when the Rabbitohs fullback approached him at his table.

Mitchell was adamant. Anasta has been too harsh when it comes to his criticism of the struggling Rabbitohs on the NRL 360 TV show and wanted to give his opinion on the matter.

The conversation between the pair then continued privately outside – and while animated, it did not become physical.

It’s understood both men stood their ground and agreed to disagree – and now it can be revealed that Mitchell failed to explain to Anasta where he had supposedly crossed the line.

Anasta is also the player manager of halfback Lachlan Ilias, who South Sydney is expected to leave the club.

“Latrell is out of order and someone in South Sydney needs to take their jacket off,” Fox Sports rugby league reporter James Hooper told Triple M.

“I think Wayne is the only guy who can probably get Latrell back to his best [Bennett]. That’s why the Souths chased Wayne as hard as they did.

“I understand this situation when Latrell was asked, ‘Okay, let’s unpack it, what’s your problem?’ What are you angry about? What makes you think I have an agenda against you?

‘There was nothing, him [Mitchell] couldn’t get anything out of it except insults.

“That’s not the right way to handle things.”

Anasta – who was reportedly furious that the conversation with Mitchell was made public – then faced light-hearted jabs from some of his colleagues on NRL 360 on Monday.

They included veteran News Corp writer Phil Rothfield and former champion halfback Cooper Cronk.

Rothfield said, “You can’t afford to have another fight here after what happened at Chin Chin,” while Cronk said, “I think Latrell would have had you, by the way.”

Anasta jokingly threatened to ‘go out and sort it out’ with both men as a chorus of laughter followed live on television.
