Teralba house fire: Horror discovery made two days after unit block went up in flames

Two bodies have now been found in the wreckage of a unit that was destroyed by fire.

About 4.10am on Thursday, emergency services were called to a unit block on Railway Street in Teralba, near Newcastle, NSW, following reports of a fire.

Firefighters worked all morning to extinguish the fire, but the unit sustained significant damage.

Footage uploaded to Instagram shows the intensity of the flames as the unit is completely engulfed.

Officers, including the Arson Unit, attended the scene and a body was found during searches of the unit.

A second body was found on Friday after an extensive search by the crew.

None of the bodies have been formally identified by police.

Structural assessments of the unit are still being carried out to ensure the structure is sound before forensic investigations can continue.

The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
