New behind-the-scenes Stranger Things photos of Sadie Sink and Caleb McLaughlin leave fans speculating over season five plot
Social media is in a frenzy after a series of behind-the-scenes photos from the set of Stranger Things surfaced online.
Show creator Ross Duffer posted a glimpse of what happens when the cameras aren’t rolling earlier today by sharing nine photos to his Instagram.
Two of the photos show Stranger Things stars Sadie Sink, 21, and Caleb McLaughlin, 22.
The actors play Max Mayfield and Lucas Sinclair, after Sink joined the show in the second season.
Sink was praised by critics for her portrayal of Mayfield in season four, but her character’s fate remains unknown.
However, Duffer’s new photos have Stranger Things fans believing her character’s story isn’t over.

Sink and McLaughlin’s characters have had a close friendship in Stranger Things since the second season.
Their characters had a romantic relationship that was short-lived, but the characters hinted that they still had feelings for each other in the season 4 finale.
The actress’ character, Max, died briefly during the season four finale and fell into a coma after being revived by Eleven, played by Millie Bobby Brown.
Her character’s final scene was in the hospital with a heartbroken Lucas sitting at her bedside.
Duffer’s first photo of the two actors shows the actress lying awake on a hospital stretcher next to a smiling McLaughlin.
The series creator further teased ‘Lumax’ fans by sharing a photo of the actors holding hands.
A photo of a cassette tape of Kate Bush was also included in Duffer’s Instagram post.
Bush’s song, “Running Up That Road,” was Mayfield’s “personal anthem” and was played during Sink’s critically acclaimed scene in the episode Dear Billy.

The photos of Sink and McLaughlin have now gone viral on X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram.
Stranger Things fans who have seen the photos are convinced that Max will regain consciousness during the fifth and final season.
“MY GIRL IS ALIVE AND WELL,” one X user tweeted.
An Instagram user who is happy that Max is still alive compliments both Duffer brothers.
“At least we know she’s not Tysm Duffer’s dead brothers,” the Instagram user wrote.
Other X and Instagram users were excited to see photos of Sink and McLaughlin because of the on-and-off relationship between their characters.
Fans of the hit series are hoping the pair will resume their romantic relationship and are calling for ‘Lumax.’

However, one person on X couldn’t help but write down what Lucas hopes to see in the fifth season.
“My home for the STs5 finale is Lucas absorbing Vecna’s powers and killing Will and Murry…,” the user wrote.
