The 24-year-old music artist took to Instagram Stories on Tuesday to push back allegations that she was using technology to make audiences appear larger.
“Never photoshopped a crowd lmao,” the Columbus, Ohio native said in a caption scattered over an image of her facing the crowd at the Indio, California-based music festival.
The up-and-coming artist, whose name is Alyssa Michelle Stephens, said an image she posted for aesthetics on Instagram was enlarged but accidentally posted to Twitter.
“I expanded it to fit my Instagram swipe without getting cut off, but it was obviously cut up, so I ended up not using it and accidentally posted the wrong version to Twitter babes,” Latto said.

A number of social media users speculated on the authenticity of the image after the Big Energy singer posted an image on social media of herself facing the crowd, with some pointing out that some members of the crowd appeared to be replicated.
Others defended the artist, saying it was a technical by-product of formatting the concert recording for social media posting.
“It’s because the photo expands with content-aware fill, for example if you try to change the aspect ratio of a photo without distorting the image, photoshop or an editor will ‘pixelate it by trying to match what’s around it so you don’t have to do that’. distort the image,” said one user.
Another user supported the theory, writing, “Everything outside of this red box is filled with Photoshop content. Again, only the photographer wants the photo framed differently. Crowd only increased by 5 percent. And she wasn’t the goddamn photoshop who did it lmfao.’
The user said the replication was a result of a framing issue that was fixed before posting to social media.
