We’ve all been there: you go to a festival with the best intentions of hanging out with your friends, but within minutes you discover that you’re lost.
But the days of frantically looking forward to your friend’s flower crown are finally a thing of the past, thanks to Vodafone’s latest app.
The tech giant has launched a new official Glastonbury Festival app for 2024, which features a Map Pinning tool.
As the name suggests, festival goers can place pins to meet their friends, find their tent and remember where they parked their car.
If you’re one of the lucky people heading to Worthy Farm later this month, here’s how to try it.

Vodafone has launched a new official Glastonbury Festival app for 2024, which features a Map Pinning tool. As the name suggests, festival goers can place pins to meet their friends, find their tent and remember where they parked their car.
The new app was announced by Vodafone this week and includes a number of never-before-seen features.
“Glastonbury Festival is one of the biggest events of the summer and we want to ensure we deliver an app that helps visitors get the most out of the festival, along with connectivity to match,” said Rob Winterschladen, Consumer Director at Vodafone UK.
“We’re excited to add not one, but several never-before-seen features to our 2024 Festival app.”
Map Pinning can be used to pin key locations across the 1,000-acre sites, whether it’s your tent, your car or your spot next to the Pyramid Stage.
These Pins can then be shared with your friends so you can all track each other’s whereabouts.
To use Map Pinning, open the Glastonbury app and tap the ‘Map’ tab at the bottom of the screen.
Pinch the screen to zoom in or out before finding where you want to place your pin.
Tap ‘Add Pin’ at the bottom right of the screen before refining and naming the spot.
Once you save your PIN, tap it to share it with friends. You have the option to share 1 hour, 3 hours or 1 day.
“To protect your privacy and security, share your location only with trusted friends,” Vodafone said.
Speaking to MailOnline, Jake Moore, Global Cybersecurity Advisor at ESET, urged anyone using the Map Pinning tool to be cautious.
“Every time you enable an app or service to track your location, you give up another part of your privacy that could later be abused and even used by third-party companies to learn your movements,” he said.

‘Plus, the more apps ask for your location, the easier it becomes to just let others know exactly where you are all the time, which can be nerve-wracking later on.
‘However, if you choose to share locations with someone, it’s much safer to do so with one trusted friend and let him or her follow you and use the trusted native Find My apps on your Apple or Android phone to be used.
‘Ironically, when huge crowds converge in one location using a small number of nearby phone towers, the bandwidth is often at maximum capacity due to the large number of people trying to use their data, so this feature may work still not as good as it should be.
‘Additionally, the more your phone tries to connect to 3G/4G/5G, the more the battery has to work, which can drain the power. In this scenario, old-fashioned text messages (not iMessages) are often simpler and have a better chance of getting through.”
Besides the map, one of the biggest updates is the integration with Spotify, which means users will get access to personalized recommendations on artists performing at Glastonbury based on their listening habits.
“When users connect to their Spotify, they will be shown their Top 10 artists from the Line-up, in addition to a wider selection of recommendations via the Discover More option,” Vodafone explained in a blog.
‘Perfect for discovering a new emerging artist or spotting an existing favorite they may have missed in the packed line-up.’
The free official Glastonbury Festival app is now available to download from the Apple Store and Google Play Store.
