Netflix’s version of Prince Andrew’s stroll with Jeffrey Epstein he’ll always regret

Look the other way, Andrés! It’s the Netflix version of the prince’s walk with Jeffrey Epstein that you’ll always regret, as the British actor is unrecognizable as the Duke of York.

Bags under the eyes – check. Sagging jowls: verified. Middle-aged potbellied propagation: checked.

As our exclusive images show, Rufus Sewell has certainly been doing his homework to play Prince Andrew. He uncannily resembles the embattled Royal, most likely with the aid of prosthetics.

The footage recreates the now-infamous Prince’s walk in New York’s Central Park with convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, filmed for the upcoming Netflix production Scoop.

The film, due for release in 2024, will dramatize Andrew’s disastrous 2019 interview on the BBC’s Newsnight.

The cast also includes Gillian Anderson as interviewer Emily Maitlis, Billie Piper as Newsnight producer Sam McAlister and Keeley Hawes as the Prince’s former private secretary, Amanda Thirsk.

It is based on Mrs McAlister’s book Scoops: Behind The Scenes Of The BBC’s Most Shocking Interviews.

Promotional material for the film describes it as “the inside track of the women who stormed the Buckingham Palace establishment to secure the scoop of the decade, one that led to the catastrophic fall from grace of the Queen’s ‘favourite son’.” “.

He adds that the drama focuses on everything from “navigating the Palace vetoes, fighting his way into Prince Andrew’s inner circle… to the amazing interview itself.”

Andrew was reportedly good friends with Epstein, who hanged himself in jail in 2019 after being arrested for sex trafficking minors.

Footage from their 2010 walk in Central Park is often used as evidence of their close relationship.

A viewer of the scene, which was filmed in London, said that Sewell “really looked like the part”, adding: “She looks like she’s put on a few pounds for the part.” This isn’t the classy, dapper Rufus Sewell we’re used to seeing.

‘Like Andrew, he has some excess weight around his double chin and also seems to be hiding a bit of a paunch under that anorak. The resemblance is quite amazing.

Sewell is best known for his villainous roles, but he’s typically played fiery bad guys, like Kate Winslet’s ex-boyfriend Jasper in the rom-com The Holiday or Count Armand in The Legend Of Zorro.

The film is being shot when Prince Andrew, who settled out of court with his sexual assault accuser Virginia Giuffre last year, appears to be in talks with an American journalist to collaborate on a revealing autobiography.

Sources close to the Duke refer to the book as ‘Spare 2.0’, as it comes after Prince Harry’s controversial memoir Spare.

A source told the MoS last week: “Andrew was the original spare and there is a lot of material… It would give him a chance to explain his association with Epstein and the resulting consequences.”
