Netflix’s tease for One Piece season 2 loudly hints at the arc the show will take on next

The first teaser for A piece season 2 has arrived and all but confirms the story the season will tell and which characters will appear in it.

The plague was a video uploaded to TikTok, in which Iñaki Godoy celebrated Monkey D. Luffy’s birthday with a cake that resembles a big old candle. On that cake was a candle shaped like the number three – and that’s almost certainly a very big hint as to what storyline we’ll see this time.

Where Netflix is A piece Season one continued with the East Blue story from the manga, the teaser suggests we will be following the Arabasta storyline. That focused on the criminal syndicate Barok Works, which includes a series of villains named after numbers and holidays – including a certain Mr 3, who – as IGN comments – can create and control candle wax.

Netflix’s teaser all but confirms the fans’ speculations

A piece fans were already quite certain that the next season would follow the Arabasta storyline, not least because it was hinted at early on in the first season. A red-haired Baroque Works character named Mr 7 was featured in one of the opening scenes of season one and was promptly killed by Zoro.

That raises the tantalizing possibility that we’ll see a whole host of villains from the Baroque works this time around. And there are a lot of them, with the male agents getting numbers and the female agents getting vacation days – so in addition to mastermind Mr 0, there are agents Mr 1, Mr 2, Mr 3, Mr 4 and Mr 5 plus Miss All Sunday, Miss Doublefinger, among others. Miss Goldenweek, Miss Merry Christmas and Miss Valentine.

Since each character has their own strange abilities, there’s room for a lot of fun here. And there could be more: fans are hoping that Tony Tony Chopper, a shape-shifting reindeer who was absent from the first season, could also appear.

Other details are not yet known, but we expect the second season to begin filming this summer for a streaming release in 2025 – it’s been a long wait for the return of one of the best Netflix shows of the past few years, but It will be worth it, we hope.
