Ahead of the January 11 premiere, Netflix has released the final trailer Sakamoto daysthe upcoming anime adaptation of the hit Weekly Shōnen Jump manga. The series centers on Taro Sakamoto, a former assassin who was once infamous in the criminal underworld.
But after getting married and retiring, Taro started a new life as a friendly grocery store owner. After Taro’s cover is blown, he is forced to seek the help of Shin Asakura, a former assassin with telepathy, to help him run his shop and protect his family from harm. The trailer does a great job of selling the premise and offbeat humor Sakamoto dayswith Taro being semi-forced out of retirement to fend off the slew of assassins sent to collect the bounty on his head.
The real draw of the trailer, however, is the voice talent associated with the series. Critical Role fame Matt Mercer will voice Taro Sakamoto in the English-language version of the anime, starring Dallas Liu (Netflix’s Avatar: The last airbender) cast to voice Shin. Other actors attached to the anime include SungWon Cho (Wonderful in the dungeon), WWE superstar Alexa “Lexi Cabrera” Bliss and Xolo Maridueña (Cobra Kai).
