Netflix’s One Piece and Avatar: The Last Airbender series just got some serious cast upgrades for season 2 during Geeked Week Live 2024

Netflix has announced some big names for the cast of season 2 of its live-action series. Avatar: The Last Airbender And One piece adjustments.

The streaming giant confirmed that there are three actors, one for Avatar: The Last Airbender season 2, and two for One piece season 2 – will join the cast of those shows for their next chapters.

On the Avatar front, American actress Miya Cech, who some readers may recognize from The Santa Clauses on Disney Plus and/or Netflix’s Beefalso known as one of the best shows of 2023, has been hired to play fan-favorite character Toph. In the animated original, the blind earthbender—one of the most naturally gifted and powerful of her generation, we’ll have you know—joins Aang and the rest of Team Avatar on their mission to put an end to the Fire Nation’s quest to become the tyrannical rulers of the world.

Cech’s appointment was not the only Avatar-related announcement was made by one of the world’s top streaming services during Geeked Week Live. Netflix also confirmed that production had officially begun on Season 2, with principal filming beginning just six months after Netflix’s two-season announcement. It is unclear whether the final two installments of the series will be filmed back-to-back, but the revelation that Season 2 has entered full production suggests that this will not be the case.

Abova, who starred in the comedy series Peacock Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlinwill play All Sunday, whose real name is Nico Robins and who is the vice president of the Baroque Works, a secret criminal organization set up with the sole purpose of destabilizing and then conquering the Arabasta kingdom. Manganiello, whose credits include the 2002 film Spider-Man film, Real blood, How I Met Your Motherand a brief cameo as Deathstroke in the now-defunct DC Extended Universe (DCEU), will play the mob boss/warlord from Baroque Works.

Ironically, fans already knew that Abova and Manganiello would be joining the Season 2 cast. Yesterday (September 19), Netflix’s PR team accidentally leaked the couple’s appointment on the internal Tudum website. The information was removed shortly after the mistake was discovered, but not before What’s on Netflix? the misstep was noticed and reported.

They weren’t the only ones One piece-centric revelations that had fans drooling over Geeked Week Live and at home. According to the YouTube video above, Netflix also released a behind-the-scenes footage of the first table read of Season 2, which announced the arrival of the beloved character Chopper. Netflix strongly suggested that Season 2 of One piece Season 2 would cover the Arabasta Saga of its manga namesake, we already had a hunch that Chopper would make an appearance at some point. However, this confirms that the half-reindeer, half-human hybrid will make his grand entrance next season.

As part of an earlier Geeked Week reveal, Jeff Ward, who plays the villain Buggy the Clown, invited fans to a short tour behind the scenes of One piece various sets from season 2before it was suggested that the series would return sometime in 2025. If both series return next year, it could mark another successful 12 months for Netflix in terms of iconic anime adaptations.
