Netflix will release its latest sports docuseries in late January after taking a behind-the-scenes look at the world of NASCAR.
Following the success of the high-octane Formula 1 documentary ‘Drive To Survive’, the streaming giant has turned its attention to American motor racing promotion NASCAR in a series titled ‘Full Speed’.
Netflix’s Full Speed chronicles the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series playoffs and championship race, with the first five episodes following the drivers as they compete for one of the most prestigious titles in American motorsports.
The likes of Ryan Blaney, William Byron, Ross Chastain, Denny Hamlin and Bubba Wallace will be documented in the series, which airs on Tuesday, January 30.
In a similar vein to F1 equivalent Drive To Survive, which has won a host of awards since the release of the first series in 2019, Full Speed takes a look into the lives of NASCAR drivers on and off the track to educate viewers to provide insight into the physical and mental demands that the sport entails.

“The intensity of the elimination format in the NASCAR playoffs is unlike anything else in motorsports,” said Dale Earnhardt Jr., NASCAR Hall of Famer and executive producer of the docuseries. PEOPLE.
“NASCAR: Full Speed offers people an incredible opportunity to learn more about how this sport works, who these drivers are as people and competitors, and what makes them the best in the world at what they do.”
NASCAR and Netflix unveiled the official trailer for Full Speed on Tuesday, ahead of its release at the end of the month, with ESPN journalist Marty Smith heard saying at the start: ‘When you’re on the track, the overall sensory experience, the way it sounds, is intoxicating.
“When you’re a race car driver, you have the possibility of getting hurt or killed, but you do it anyway. Just think what a bada** that is.”
The show, which will consist of five 45-minute episodes, is the second NASCAR docuseries to be released by Netflix in as many years, following Race: Bubba Wallace – which focused on the American driver’s career and the fight for racial justice.
The streaming service has also released docs on tennis, golf, NFL and women’s soccer in recent years.
