Netflix show Kaos has been canceled by the streaming giant after one season – days after fans begged for a second season.

The series, created by Charlie Covell, starred Jeff Goldblum as Zeus – from Greek mythology – and Stephen Dillane as Prometheus.

Netflix has chosen not to renew Kaos for a second season after the first season generated 14.9 million views. The Hollywood Reporter.

The show was a modern take on Greek and Roman mythology, with the dark comedy centering around Prometheus teaming up with three people to overthrow Zeus after he was punished for trying to disrupt his rule.

The show, which was hailed by critics as an ‘absolute triumph’, was released on the streamer on August 29 – with eight episodes in its first season.

According to the outlet, the show spent its first four weeks in the top ten of Netflix charts, reaching No. 3.

As of September 8, the series had been viewed 3.34 million times in the US, per THR.

The show also stars Aurora Perrineau, Misia Butler, Debi Mazar, David Thewlis, Janet McTeer and Leila Farzad.

The show was produced by Chris Fry, Charlie Covell, Jane Featherstone, Nina Lederman, Tanya Seghatchian, Georgi Banks-Davies and John Woodward.

Aurora responded to the cancellation news on her Instagram, writing, “This one hurts,” while speaking of her co-stars, “Everyone was brilliant and uniquely themselves.”

Fans took to social media to report the cancellation news, expressing their disappointment over the news.

“I think it’s crazy that Netflix actually canceled Kaos barely a month after it came out. what is wrong with them,” one person wrote.
