The Witcher: Sirens of the DeepThe second animated film set in the Netflix series Witcher-Verse will not be released this year after all.
Announced in a Geeked Week 2024 video featuring voice actor Doug Cockle, who reprises his iconic role as Geralt of Rivia The Witcher video game series in the upcoming film, Sirens of the Deep won’t be released until late 2024. Instead, it will now attempt to enchant viewers worldwide on February 11, 2025.
The film’s official release date was revealed alongside a new clip, featuring Geralt and Jaskier, another fan-favorite character from The Witcherenjoying a meal by a campfire as they discuss Essi, a rival poet and friend of Jaskier.

Netflix did indeed say so on The Witcher: Sirens of the DeepThe official reveal took place last November, but for unknown reasons the streaming giant has announced a new release date for the adult animated film.
For anyone who needs to know, Sirens of the Deep is based on ‘A Little Sacrifice’, a short story that ties in with Andrzej Sapkowski’s The Witcher book series that continues Geralt’s adventures on the continent. According to a Netflix press release released alongside the film’s official announcement in late 2023, the famed monster hunter will “investigate a series of attacks in a coastal village” before Geralt “finds himself in the middle of a centuries-old conflict between humans and mermaids.” It’ll be up to everyone’s favorite mutant, and allies old and new, to prevent all-out war from breaking out between the land-dwellers and the sea-faring kingdoms.
Next to Cockle is Christina Wren (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice), who will voice Essi. Joey Batey and Anya Chalotra, who play Jaskier and Yennefer in the Netflix live-action version The Witcher novels, will voice their respective characters in Sirens of the Deepat.

Indeed, since The Witcher‘s first season debuted in late 2019, Netflix’s live-action and animated retellings of Sapkowski’s beloved book series have always offered something new for new and established fans to enjoy and/or get frustrated with. Despite the aforementioned debut of one of Netflix’s best series, 2021 saw The Witcher season 2 and The Witcher: The Wolf’s Nightmare unleashed upon the world, 2022 gave us the critically-slammed The Witcher: Blood Originsand in 2023, fans said goodbye to Henry Cavill after his final appearance as Geralt in The Witcher season 3.
2020 was the only other year in which a new Witcher production did not see the light of day, but there were extenuating circumstances, with the pandemic having a major impact on the development of season 2. If it weren’t for Covid-19, Netflix would likely have released a new season or standalone production every year for the past five years.
As it stands now, with Sirens of the Deep not released before February 2025, The Witcher season 4 in the middle of its development cycle, and The rats‘ live-action spin-off canceled, there will be no forays to the continent for viewers to watch. Still, with The Witcher suffering from diminishing returns on the critical and commercial fronts, taking a year off could be a blessing in disguise. After all, thanks to the 2023 Hollywood strikes, Marvel was forced to scale back its 2024 production, and look how the MCU’s ailing fortunes have turned around as a result.
