Netflix has revealed its plans for the future of its gaming initiative, confirming that it currently has nearly 90 games in development.
“It was just two years ago that we announced our ambition to make Netflix a destination for must-play games,” wrote Mike Verdu, Netflix's vice president of games, in a new blog post. “Although we are only at the beginning of the journey, we have taken fundamental steps toward this goal over the past year.”
Netflix has already launched 40 titles since its shift to video games began, including Grand Theft Auto Trilogy – The Definitive Edition which will release on the platform today (December 14), as well as the first two internally developed games, including Night School's Oxenfree 2: lost signals And Netflix Stories: Love is blind.
Looking ahead, Netflix says it will have 86 games available on the subscription service by the end of the year and revealed that “with nearly 90 games still in development, we're just getting started.”
The majority of these games have not yet been announced, but Netflix did share that four will be released in 2024.
Those include Cozy Grove: Camp spiritthe sequel to life simulation Cozy grove from the company's in-house studio, Spry Fox, along with Fashion fresh, Game developer TycoonAnd Sonic Mania Plus.
Coming to Netflix is also one Rebel Moon game based on Zack Snyder's upcoming film Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Firewhich will be developed by Super Evil Megacorp.
Not many details are known yet, but we know it will be a four-player co-op game and will take place after the events of A child of fire And Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver.
In addition, a game set in the universe of the popular South Korean series Squid game It was also announced where users “will compete with other players in games from the hit series.”
Netflix's current library of games is available with any Netflix membership, without ads, in-app purchases, or additional fees.
