Netflix gives us a wilder look at the globe-spanning mystery of 3 Body Problem

3 Body problem It’s already shaping up to be one of Netflix’s biggest shows ever, and the new trailer is suitably epic. The trailer, released Tuesday at the Consumer Electronics Show, gives us our best look yet at the series and sheds more light on the plot for those who haven’t yet read the books the series is based on.

The trailer explains the series’ variety of competing mysteries. There’s a countdown clock that has appeared to certain people, a series of murders targeting the world’s top scientists, and a virtual reality game tied to what’s going on. Plus an unknown force that is taking its toll on the entire planet.

The series was created by Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and DB Weiss, as well as Alexander Woo. The show also features stars like Benedict Wong and Eiza Gonzalez, as well Game of ThroneVeterans like John Bradley, Jonathan Pryce and Liam Cunningham. The series debuts on Netflix on March 21.

The series is based on The three-body problem, a novel by Liu Cixin, originally published in China in 2008. The book eventually made its way to the United States and won the 2015 Hugo Award for Best Novel. The novel is the first entry in Cixin’s Remembrance of Earth’s Past series, which contains three books in total.
