Netflix fans SLAM Avatar: The Last Airbender’s series script and brand it a ‘turd sandwich’ after the eight-part adaptation finally hit streaming
Netflix fans have rejected the script for the new series Avatar: The Last Airbender after it finally hit the streaming service on Thursday.
All eight episodes of the show have been released on the platform over six years after it was first announced, and fans are already divided.
Despite the long wait, fans were shocked by the script’s writing and took to X, formerly Twitter, to vent their frustration.
One upset user wrote: ‘The changes they made to Netflix’s The Last Airbender make no sense.
“I mean, it’s way better than that shitshow M. Night put out years ago, but only in terms of action and actors. The script is a turd sandwich.”

Another was dissatisfied with the changes in the latest series.
They wrote, “That first episode of Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender is rough. I’m all for changing things and making some things different, but changes have to make sense.
“Everything looks as it should and the music sounds great, but the lines and script are shaky at best.”
A third added: ‘Just started watching the new Avatar The Last Airbender on Netflix. What a boring introduction. The intro is literally something I look forward to every time.
‘Why change ”Long Ago” to ”For Millennia” argh’.
A fellow viewer was also disappointed with the new live-action remake of the show, saying, “I was 90% sure this was going to fail once they abandoned the script and focused on activism.”
‘Twice they tried to make a live-action of Avatar Last Airbender, twice they failed.’
Another user was annoyed by the screenwriters’ choice to explain how the Avatar was reincarnated in the show.
They wrote: ‘First introductory minutes of Avatar Last Airbender explain step by step how the Avatar is reincarnated. Why? Couldn’t they have worked that into the script like they did in the original show?’

Avatar follows a young monk named Aang, the last surviving ‘Airbender’ and the eighth reincarnation of the Avatar, the human embodiment of light and peace, though he is unaware of it.
Originally a Nickelodeon cartoon that ran from 2005 to 2008, this Netflix adaptation marks the second live-action remake of Avatar: The Last Airbender following the 2010 feature film The Last Airbender.
The Netflix series features a relatively unknown cast, Daniel Dae Kim, who plays the main antagonist, Fire Lord Ozai.
Main character Aang is played by Gordon Comier, his friends Katara and Sokka by Kiawentiio and Ian Ousley respectively, antagonist Prince Zuko by Dallas Liu, his sister Princess Azula by Elizabeth Yu and his uncle Iroh by Paul Sun-Hyung Lee.
