Millions of Netflix users have tuned in to watch the second part of Emily in Paris’ fourth season, and some viewers are now hoping for a prequel series.
Emily in Paris is about Emily Cooper (Lily Collins) and her life in France, full of work, adventure and love triangles.
After Emily accepts a job in Rome in the season 4 finale, X-users have become interested in watching ‘Emily in Rome’ for the upcoming fifth season of the series.
There are also calls on social media for a prequel that focuses on some of the characters, such as Emily and Gabriel (Lucas Bravo), despite the hatred that social media harbors towards him.
Most X-users, however, are hoping for a prequel about one main character: Sylvie.
Nearly 20 million Netflix viewers watched the first part of Emily in Paris Season 4. The season of the show debuted in the top 5 most watched Netflix shows
The season finale shows lead actress Emily Cooper (Lily Collins) enjoying her new life in Rome with her lover Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini).
Sylvie, played by Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, is a tough businesswoman who goes by the nickname ‘worst bish‘ on the show earlier this year.
Sylvie and Emily have an intense relationship, but the French professional has hinted more than once that she cares for Emily.
Sylvie also has a complicated marriage with Laurent (Arnaud Binard), whom she has cheated on more than once.
Despite her messy love life and complicated relationships, X-users are hoping for a prequel series focusing on Sylvie. One person even suggested Collins as a producer.
“We need a new series with the one and only Sylvie as the main character!” tweeted one X user.
Someone else wrote: ‘It is and will remain Sylvie in Paris.’
In addition to Collins as a producer, more than one X-user has suggested that the potential Sylvie prequel series would be about her life.for her marketing agency‘.
“Sylvie just deserves a full prequel show, I would binge watch that so many times. She’s so iconic,” an X user wrote.
However, one X user isn’t interested in a Sylvie prequel series anytime soon.
“Yeah, that would be cool, because I love Sylvie. But a Sylvie prequel won’t give us more Sylvie. It’ll just give us a younger actress playing Sylvie, and I’m not interested in that,” the X-user tweeted.
‘I’m much more interested in the beautiful Italian man. Sylvia is dating in Rome.’
Several Netflix fans have been clamoring for Sylvie (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu) to get her own prequel series
Other X-users who watched the latest season are more interested in what will happen to the characters in the future. One person thinks that one episode for a “backstory of all the characters” is enough.
Several viewers also started cheering for Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini) and urged Emily to send Gabriel out onto the streets.
“Emily leaves her phone behind before walking out the door with Marcello in the season finale of #EmilyInParis. This is the character development we’ve been waiting for,” one Netflix fan tweeted.
Another Emily in Paris viewer tweeted: ‘Okay Emily, don’t screw this up, Marcello is perfect.’
At least four X users insisted Emily and Marcello were “endgame,” with one Twitter user even admitting rewatch an episode who focused on her new Italian love.
Several X-Users are more excited about the characters’ future than their past
Emily in Paris fans who root for Marcello will likely be excited to hear that he and Emily’s relationship will be explored in season five.
“Marcello is a very different adventure that we want for Emily because ultimately we want Emily to have a better work-life balance,” Collin said on Good morning America.
“I feel like they have a real spark and a real connection and a real romantic connection. A lot of that will continue to play out next season.”
In addition to Collins, Bravo and Leroy-Beaulieu are also expected to appear in Season 5, along with Ashley Park, who plays Emily’s good friend Mindy Chen.
Season 5 is currently not in production, but is expected to premiere sometime in 2025.
