Netflix viewers are in an uproar over a new psychological thriller, calling it ‘A+’.
The psychological thriller Eric, created by Emmy and BAFTA Abi Morgan, follows ailing father Vincent (Benedict Cumberbatch) on the hunt for his missing son.
When Edgar (Ivan Howe) disappears into the streets of 1980s New York on his way to school, his parents are left sad and hopeless.
Vincent is a leading puppeteer and quickly descends into madness when he tries to move his son.
As he struggles with the absence of his nine-year-old child, the father begins to cling for dear life to Edgar’s drawing of a blue monster doll: Eric.

When Edgar (Ivan Howe, photo) disappears on the streets of New York City in the 1980s on his way to school, his parents are left sad and hopeless.
The self-loathing parent believes that if he gets the big blue conception of his missing son on his extremely popular children’s show – Good Day Sunshine – he will come home.
The longer Edgar is missing, Vincent becomes more and more violent and erratic in his behavior.
As he further alienates himself from everyone who tries to help him – detectives, his family and friends – the puppeteer begins to hallucinate a life-size version of ErIc.
Vincent spirals out of control in the race to find his child and is forced to confront his demons on the dangerous yet addictive streets of the Big Apple.
Creator Abigail Morgan told Tudum: “Eric delves deep into the Big Apple of the 1980s and grapples with rising crime rates, internal corruption, endemic racism, a forgotten underclass and the AIDS epidemic.
‘[It] exposes the division between parents searching for their child and a detective struggling with a broken system.
And a lost boy who may never come home – and asks where the real monsters lie. With dolls… lots of dolls.’
Netflix fans have been freaked out by the new gripping drama, with some calling for Benedict Cumberbatch to get an Oscar.
