Netflix fans ‘can’t sleep’ without binge watching new gritty crime series as they hail it the ‘best thing on TV right now’
Griselda is the latest gritty crime series to take the internet by storm, and fans are so ‘obsessed’ with the Netflix drama that they ‘can’t sleep’ until they finish it.
The miniseries premiered on January 25 and chronicles the life of Griselda Blanco, a notorious Colombian drug lord who ran a cocaine empire in Miami.
Modern Family’s Sofia Vergara stars as the titular character and has been praised for her performance.
Viewers were so captivated that they took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to express their excitement, saying they were hooked after just one episode of the six-part show.
One viewer predicted that Vergara would win a host of awards as a result, writing: “Griselda Blanco turning her children into murderers and drug dealers is WILD. Sofia Vergara is about to be nominated for everything in this Netflix miniseries.”

Other viewers shared: ‘I’ve started watching Griselda so my new personality for this week is about to be the drug lord, queen of the underworld’; ‘I used to be obsessed with Griselda Blanco and Pablo Escobar’; ‘Griselda might be the best thing on Netflix right now’;
“Honey, that Griselda Netflix show HIT. Best six hours of TV I’ve seen in a long time!’; ‘Griselda is so good. I’ve been sitting,” and another admitted to digesting the miniseries, “Smashed six hours of Griselda.”
However, one viewer wasn’t as fascinated by the dramatization, claiming that producers played too safe with Blanco’s portrayal.
They mused, “Griselda on Netflix is good, but I feel like they’re too safe to make her human.” Griselda Blanco was ruthless. She started killing when she was eleven.
‘The TV show makes her seem soft.’
While fans expressed their approval of the show, the family of Blanco – who was killed by a gunshot in 2012 – filed a lawsuit claiming the alleged “unauthorized use of their family’s likeness,” according to TMZ.
Blanco’s son Michael Corleone claims he has been doing interviews for years to get his and his mother’s life story down on paper, hoping it can develop into a production.
He previously told DailyMail.com of his anger and disappointment that Vergara and her team refused his offer to consult on the project.

He called the rejection a “slap in the face” and said they “wouldn’t have gotten away with it” if his mother were still alive.
Born in Santa Marta, Colombia, Blanco grew up in poverty and the lack of money forced her into a life of crime from an early age.
It was alleged that she became entangled in a path of pickpocketing and prostitution before leaving to find love again with drug trafficker Alberto Bravo, who soon brought her into the cocaine industry.
The couple used New York as their base when they smuggled drugs into the US – and Blanco seemed to have a knack for it – and later created a massive cocaine empire worth billions.
