Netflix fans blast new rom-com the ‘worst movie of the year’ after ‘weird’ ending leaves them furious

A new Netflix rom-com has been labeled ‘the worst movie of the year’ after its unconventional ending left viewers scratching their heads.

Mother of the Bride was released on May 9 on the streaming giant and features an all-star cast including Brooke Shields, Miranda Cosgrove, Chad Michael Murray and Benjamin Bratt.

The film also stars Rachael Harris (Suits), Michael McDonald (MADtv), Wilson Cruz (My So-Called Life), Tasneem Roc (The Bureau of Magical Things) and Dalip Sondhi (Frayed).

Executive produced by Shields and directed by Mean Girls and Freaky Friday director Mark Waters, the film was shot on location in Thailand over six weeks.

Brooke Shields, 58, stars as Lana, the nervous helicopter mom to her calm daughter Emma, ​​played by former Nickelodeon star Miranda Cosgrove, 30.

Brooke’s character Lana also has to deal with seeing her college ex, played by Benjamin Bratt, who had a real-life romance with Julia Roberts, and is best known for her appearance on Law & Order.

Former One Tree Hill star Chad Michael Murray, 42, appears as Lucas, a romantic rival vying for Lana’s affections.

However, the drama surrounding the hasty marriage becomes even more complicated and ends on a rather unusual note when Lana discovers that her future son-in-law is the offspring of the man who broke her heart decades ago (Bratt).
