Netflix fans blast new drama series over ‘really bad ending’ that was ‘such an anti-climax’

A new Netflix miniseries has been criticized by angry viewers for its ‘terrible’ ending.

Man in Full – an adaptation of Tom Wolfe’s 1998 novel – was released as a six-part limited series on the streaming giant on May 2.

The Regina King-directed series follows banker Raymond Peepgrass (Tom Pelphrey) as he tries to expose Atlanta business magnate Charlie Croker (Jeff Daniels) and his massive $800 million debt.

The complicated story involves several subplots, including the capture of Conrad Hensley, husband of Charlie Croker’s assistant Jill Hensley (Chanté Adams), after he takes revenge for a police officer’s attack.

The show also features a storyline starring Lucy Liu as a wealthy business owner who decides to speak out about a sexual assault that occurred twenty years ago.

While many viewers commented on the confusing nature of the many subplots, it was the show’s ending that seemed to disappoint fans the most.

The series, which currently ranks third on Netflix’s global Top 10 chart, ends with Raymond seducing Croker’s ex-wife Martha (Diane Lane) and using her company shares to forge an alliance against Croker.

The finale sees Croker and Peepgrass have a tense face-to-face encounter, ending with a graphic and fatal confrontation that ends abruptly, leaving viewers hanging.

Leaving viewers with divided opinions about the series finale, fans took to X to share their thoughts on the “lazy” and “terrible” ending.

One fan wrote: ‘After watching A Man in Full… I feel a little robbed by the ending. It’s a Netflix limited series, so there probably won’t be a second season. I hate it when these creators make shows like this.”

Another raged: ‘Just binge watching a Man in Full, good show, terrible ending, I’m p****8.’

A third wrote: ‘I watched A Man in Full and it was ok but the ending is terrible,’ while a fourth disappointed viewer added: ‘I understand why A Man in Full has poor ratings – because that ending is very pointless .’

Another viewer said: ‘Just finished Netflix’s A Man in Full, a fantastic series, beautifully written and directed. But what the hell was that ending?’

As viewers were left with divided opinions about the series finale, fans took to X to share their thoughts on the ‘lazy’ and ‘terrible’ ending.

A final fan wrote: ‘I just finished Netflix’s Man in Full. Five incredible episodes followed by an incredibly lazy ending.”

They added, “Gosh, how are we going to solve all these complicated storylines we’ve created?”

However, one delighted fan praised the show’s ‘cinematic’ ending, writing: ‘A Man in Full, directed by Regina King, is absolute cinema! Perfection and a great ending!’

It comes after Netflix was heavily criticized by MPs and school campaigners earlier this month after viewers were confronted with a fully erect penis on the show.

This is believed to be the first time a mainstream drama on British television has broken the taboo on an erect penis – and there was no prior warning about explicit nudity.
