Set in South London, this bold, six-part British version of the superhero story introduces us to a number of people struggling to make ends meet – including one of them, played by Tosin Cole – who have powers they never knew existed.
Other threads tied together in the opening episode include a number of missing persons reports, a sinister holding facility that appears to be holding people captive, and an unusually helpful woman in a hospital.
Like Channel 4’s Misfits, Supacell is less of a comedy and more of an in-depth dive into the lives of its characters, making the most of its South London setting.

For anyone living in South London, it is clear that much of the series was actually filmed where the film was shot, adding to the authentic feel.
As the story unfolds, viewers see that the series is not only believable and tells beautiful stories about the lives of everyday people.
It also features a pretty solid superhero story, executed with all of Marvel’s intoxicating cinematic flair.
