Netflix could be expanding its use of AI as a new patent reveals plans to offer more personalized trailers

If you’re a Netflix customer, you’re all too familiar with the streamer’s library and how it’s set up. Currently, there’s a row at the top of the screen titled ‘We think you’ll love this’, with a range of recommendations based on your viewing habits. Mine, for example, consists mainly of horrors and thrillers, so there’s a very obvious theme. But Netflix hopes to improve the personal experience even further by delivering trailers for movies or TV shows that better suit your tastes.

We all know that the watch library can be overwhelming, and even if you consult our lists of the best Netflix shows and best Netflix movies, it can still be difficult to choose what to watch. Netflix hopes to improve the experience by immersing viewers in trailers tailored to them, rather than offering the same to everyone. Instead of focusing on one big show, for example Squid game Season 2 viewers instead watched trailers based on their own viewing history.
