Netflix confirm who will be the new romantic lead in Bridgerton season 4 in huge announcement

Netflix has confirmed that Benedict Bridgerton will be the lead character in season 4 of Bridgerton.

The streaming giant announced Tuesday that the second-eldest brother of the series’ central family will star in the next installment.

The perpetual bachelor is played by actor Luke Thompson, 36, and has been a beloved but supporting character until now.

Although his older and younger brothers Anthony and Colin are both happily married, Benedict still has no desire to settle down in season four.

Until he meets the enchanting Lady in Silver at his mother’s masked ball, Netflix has now announced.

The fourth season consists of eight episodes. Filming takes place in London under the watchful eye of showrunner Jess Brownell and executive producer Shonda Rhimes.

Luke said, “Benedict has always been a little bit lost — or free, depending on how you want to look at it. But now he’s trying to find something more solid within himself.”

Shonda added, “He’s a charming guy who’s trying to find his way. He’s very delightful and funny. I’m looking forward to everyone seeing him.”

Netflix also released a short video announcing Luke’s acceptance of Benedict’s important future.

He is shown opening a door and being handed a suit to wear to a masked ball, hinting at where his journey in the series begins.

The third season, which debuted earlier this year, focused on the love story of Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton).

This comes after Kelly Valentine Henry, the casting director for the racy costume drama, revealed she was inundated with X-rated audition tapes during an episode of Should I remove that? podcasting.

“It happens every day… that I get the most incredible videos, unsolicited,” she explained.

“It’s actually sex, it’s not real sex, but it’s pretty spicy,” she continued. “It’s not nude, but it’s pretty close.”

Henry, who has been involved with the hit Netflix series since its inception, says her inbox is constantly flooded with candidates vying for a shot at fame on the popular series.

She is currently casting for season 4.

As they continued their search, Henry noticed that there was a lot of interest in the coveted role. One candidate stood out by sending a huge, sturdy plastic banner of herself wearing a Regency costume.

“It’s actually a bit sad, I don’t understand it,” she added.

The casting director reveals that the third season will feature the most raunchy episode ever in Bridgerton’s series.

After being promised that it would be “the most exciting season yet,” Bridgerton fans were left somewhat disappointed by the lack of Regency acts in the early part of season three.

Still, the show’s bosses have more than delivered with the second part of the costume drama, with the fifth episode featuring a six-minute sex scene between Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton).

Nicola previously revealed: ‘I think we’ve won the brazenness for this series!’, when she teased that she and Luke had ruined the set with their on-screen adventures.

Narrate Entertainment weekly: ‘We broke a piece of furniture during a scene. It’s kind of like a stunt where they’re like, ‘Okay, we’re going to do this, this, and this.’

‘But then they gave us freedom and we had a lot of say in how we did those scenes and what we wanted to do, and that gives you a very powerful feeling.

“So we felt great. They were actually really fun. I didn’t expect them to be. It was fun.”

Meanwhile, some fans are already looking forward to season four, criticizing a Netflix series director after she revealed that this will be the last Bridgerton series for two years.

Showrunner Jess Brownell admitted that The Hollywood Reporter It will be a long time before viewers see the story of another Bridgerton sibling.

She said, “We’re trying to get the seasons out faster, but it takes eight months to film them. Then they have to be edited and dubbed into all the languages.”

“And the writing also takes a very long time, so we’re at a two-year pace. We’re trying to pick up the pace, but somewhere in that order of magnitude.”
