Netflix announces that its long-running Karate Kid series, Cobra Kai, will come to an end after its upcoming sixth season.

Netflix announced Friday that its popular series Cobra Kai will come to an end after its next season.
The streamer shared the news with a video announcing that the series, a sequel to the Karate Kid movies starring Ralph Macchio, had been renewed for a sixth season.
Describing the next batch of episodes as its “biggest” and “baddest” season to date, the streamer said in a statement: “Cobra Kai never dies! After five bada** seasons, Cobra Kai Season 6 will be the final showdown. The epic conclusion to the decades-long karate saga is coming soon to Netflix.
The series turned the tables on the first two films in the series, making original antagonist Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) the main character who reopens the Cobra Kai dojo, while original protagonist Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) later joins he.

Although the new trailer for the season promises it’s “coming soon,” Netflix has yet to announce a broadcast date.
Netflix also shared a statement on Twitter from Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg.
“Our goal from day one with Cobra Kai has always been to finish it on our terms, leaving the Valley at the time and place we’ve always envisioned. So it is with immense pride and appreciation that we can announce that achievement,” they wrote. The upcoming sixth season will mark the conclusion of Cobra Kai.
“While this may be a bittersweet day for the fandom, the Miyagiverse has never been stronger,” they wrote, referencing original The Karate Kid actor Pat Morita, who played Mr. Miyagi. “This fandom is the BEST on the planet, and we look forward to telling more Karate Kid stories with you in the future.”
