Ivanka Trump’s praise for her husband Jared Kushner’s tenacity in facing challenges has sparked angry reactions as critics point out that they were both born into wealth.
The former White House senior adviser, 42, opened herself up to ridicule on Sunday when she shared a short clip of Jared, 42, discussing his can-do attitude on a recent episode of Lex Fridman’s podcast, which was released in October.
“I just think it’s just something where if you want to achieve something, a lot of people, I hear, complain about what other people are doing or why it’s hard, or why it’s impossible,” he said, before briefly alluding because his enormous privilege.
“And again, I say this as someone who has been so blessed with so many things in life, but when I’ve had challenges or things that I wanted to accomplish, I just focus and say, ‘What can I do?’ he continued.

Ivanka claimed that she “received a remarkable number of warm compliments” about the interview with Jared, but she still disabled comments on the post and banned herself from receiving any more.
“Personally, I love this clip because it shows the determined optimist who firmly believes that there is always a solution if you are willing to take enough roads,” she wrote in the caption. “I love this about Jared…and it’s a great reminder to start the new year!”
The former first daughter also shared the video on X (formerly Twitter) with the same message, prompting a quick public reminder that she and her husband are “fake babies.”

Daniel Golden, author of The Price of Admission, revealed that Jared was accepted despite his high school administrators claiming he was a less-than-stellar student.
“There was no way anyone in the school’s administration office thought he would get into Harvard based on his merits,” said a former administrator at The Frisch School in Paramus, New Jersey.
“His GPA didn’t justify this, his SAT scores didn’t justify this. We thought for sure: this couldn’t be happening. Then Jared was hired.
“It was a little disappointing because there were other kids at the time who we thought really needed to be on their merits, and they didn’t.”
Jared and his family have denied the claims.

Critics of Ivanka’s effusive post about Jared were quick to point out the questionable business deal, including her cousin Mary Trump, who was an outspoken critic of her uncle, former President Trump.
“Nothing like $2 billion in Saudi blood money to keep you optimistic,” she wrote sarcastically.
Others have mocked Ivanka for turning off the comments on her post after saying she had received so many compliments on her husband’s discussion.
