Rebellious ‘nepo baby’ ball guests puff on cigarettes and sip champagne while partying with Apple Martin

Debutante balls are often associated with poise and elegance.

But Le Bal des Débutantes looked like it had a rebellious streak, with photos emerging of the children of the rich and famous indulging in alcohol and cigarettes.

The annual ball, which has been attended by a slew of celebrities and nepo babies over the years, was held Saturday at the lavish $1,000-a-night Hotel Shangri-La in Paris, France.

And in the days since the glamorous event took place, many of the elite attendees have taken to their social media accounts to share glimpses of what really happened at the prestigious party.

The footage shows that what is billed as a charity event to introduce young ladies from some of the world’s most important families into society was a lot less busy behind closed doors than previously thought.

Model Lara Cosima von Donnersmarck posted a carousel of photos to Instagram of her and her friends – including Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin’s stunning model daughter, Apple Martin – partying the night away.

Lara, the sister of Apple’s date Count Leo Henckel von Donnersmarck, shared photos of them holding up champagne glasses and lighting cigarettes.

Another participant and former debutant Skye Wong uploaded a photo of a dining table covered in what appeared to be alcoholic drinks.

Other posts showed attendees smoking together on a rooftop and dancing on each other.

The ball, first held at the Palace of Versailles in 1958, is designed to showcase prestigious women in society.

It is said that host Ophélie Renouard invites her guests based on their appearance, intelligence and family ties.

According to Hello! Magazine, it is also a fundraiser that benefits two entities related to children’s health.

It has been branded as a ‘nepo baby’ ball, as a host of famous descendants have attended over the years, including Lily Collins, Margaret Qualley, Ava Philippe, Scout Willis and now Apple.

The model, 20, accompanied by her A-list parents, stunned in a strapless blue Valentino Haute Couture dress.

After the event, Apple came under scrutiny when footage emerged showing her apparently trying to do so stealing the spotlight from another girl who was in the photo rolling her eyes at her date.

Body language expert from Great Britain Judi James Speaking exclusively to DailyMail.com about Apple’s actions, she said the 20-year-old looked like she was “itching to get in front of the lenses.”

Judi added that it seemed like Apple expected it to be “the Apple show” and treated it more like a “fun” birthday party than a valued event.

“It looks like Apple is eager to get in front of the lenses,” Judi said.

‘She seems to put the first woman on stage by stepping forward and showing off for the cameras, striking more dramatic poses that suggest she is anything but a shy introvert.

Considering her more private years in her youth, Apple seems to have really burst onto the scene here with body language that looks so confident that she’s leaving her [own] mother looks rather camera-shy next to her.

“This looks so much like the Apple Show, with photos coming out that suggest a formal, fun birthday party rather than a launch for a whole group of young ladies.”

She added: “If this ritual of ‘coming out’ is meant to emulate the aristocratic debutante balls of the last century, perhaps Miss Apple should remember that jumping in line, stepping forward and assuming something different than a subdued, elegant pose would have been. deeply frustrated.

Apple’s body language rituals during this event seem to range from acting like a Downton Abbey debutante complete with bows and allowing her to transfer her hand from her father’s grasp to that of her young man, with a touch of Victorian formality, to pose for the cameras like a social media selfie queen.’
