Rapper Nelly impressed college football fans when he performed at the Big 12 Championship Game between Oklahoma State and Texas on Saturday.

The rapper and singer provided entertainment for the Big 12's first-ever halftime show at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, when the Longhorns led 35-14 after two quarters.

The Grammy winner was joined by both the Cowboy Marching Band from Oklahoma State and the Longhorn Band from Texas for a performance of “Hot in Herre.”

However, the artist appeared to be experiencing technical difficulties as he pulled out an earpiece at the start of his set, but managed to get through.

A host of WWE talent, including Drew McIntyre, Sheamus, Jade Cargill and announcer Samantha Irvin, were also strange additions to the crowd in attendance.

The Big 12 teamed up with WWE for the 2023 championship match, with the most outstanding player receiving a custom-made championship title belt.

“Dude, if Nelly showed up at a football game I was at. I would go crazy,” one social media user shared.

Meanwhile, others couldn't help but see the funny side of the rapper who performed at the competition, noting that most of the students in attendance weren't even born when Nelly started his career.

“Bold move to combine the @Big12Conference with an intermission performance from Nelly, who was a big name before anyone was born in college,” one fan wrote.

Another added, “Those kids in the Texas band are probably wondering who Nelly is and why he's performing! LOL'

“Nelly's performance during the halftime show of the big twelve championships is hilarious,” someone chimed in.

However, not all football fans were impressed with some labeling it as 'terrible'.

The performance drew mixed reactions from college football fans on social media

“Why do we do solo halftime shows? Jack Harlows was beyond painful, Nelly is cruel at the moment,” one wrote, while another said: “Okay but why does this sound so bad? #Nelly.'

Rapper Jack Harlow was ripped last week for his NFL halftime performance on Thanksgiving.

Harlow stepped onto Ford Field with the Lions and Packers back in their locker rooms and sang several songs over a six-minute period.

But with Detroit trailing 23-6 at the break, energy was clearly low among the home fans and the rapper's performance flopped.
