Nelly made a special cameo at Machine Gun Kelly’s show Saturday night at FWD Day + Nightclub in Cleveland, days after he was arrested at a casino near his hometown of St. Louis.
The 49-year-old Hot In Herre rapper took the stage alongside MGK, whose full name is Colson Baker, to honor the 34-year-old musician. A day was held in Cleveland to honor the 34-year-old musician.
“Nelly just did air force ones at our party wtffffffff,” Machine Gun Kelly tweeted Saturday. “I should have worn my whites and thrown in the colored laces.”
Nelly, whose real name is Cornell Iral Haynes Jr., performed two of his best-known songs during the show: 2002’s Air Force Ones and 2005’s Grillz.
MGK was spotted recording the three-time Grammy-winning rapper on his phone during the collaboration in his hometown.

The collaboration came days after Nelly was arrested Wednesday morning at a casino in the St. Louis area, where an officer found four illegal ecstasy pills on him, according to the Missouri Highway Patrol.
The rapper’s lawyer said an “overzealous” officer attacked him and conducted an unlawful search.
The arrest occurred around 4:45 a.m. and Nelly was detained and then released by police in Maryland Heights, Missouri, the patrol said in a brief online report.
The St. Louis suburb is home to the Hollywood Casino and Hotel. Nelly’s attorney, Scott Rosenblum, said in a statement Wednesday night that the rapper, who grew up in the neighborhood, frequents the area.
Online Missouri court records show Nelly was cited in Maryland Heights in June 2018 for operating a vehicle without valid proof of insurance. A judge issued a warrant in December 2023, which remains outstanding.
Rosenblum said Nelly had won several casino jackpots and that when he went to collect the jackpots, the agent overseeing the transaction “unnecessarily” sought search warrants.

When the officer found the outstanding warrant, he tied Nelly’s hands behind his back and “felt compelled” to “parade him through the casino in front of other patrons,” Rosenblum said.
Nelly’s attorney called what the officer found “suspected ecstasy” and said the officer had no reason to search him.
Nelly was not aware of the warrant and did not know anything about it, Rosenblum said.
“I am 100 percent confident that this case will go nowhere,” Rosenblum said. “And we will be asking for an investigation into the conduct of this officer.”
Rosenblum said that in similar circumstances, “any other citizen would have been told to address the problem and be allowed to go his or her own way.”
Nelly is known for hits like Hot in Herre and Just A Dream. He has had four number one hits and received nine Billboard Music Awards. He recently completed a series of performances with Janet Jackson as a special guest on her tour.
In 2002, he won Grammy Awards for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration and Best Male Solo Rap Performance. His album Nellyville was nominated that year for both Best Rap Album and Album of the Year.
The following year, he also won a Grammy for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group for Shake Ya Tailfeather.

In addition to his recording career, Nelly has appeared in a number of films and television series, including the sports film The Longest Yard and a BET reality series featuring his family. The artist announced in April that he was engaged to singer and actor Ashanti and that the couple is expecting a baby.
In April 2015, Nelly was arrested and charged with drug possession in Tennessee after the bus he was traveling in was stopped by the Tennessee Highway Patrol east of Nashville.
He later pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor and after less than a year of probation, his criminal record was cleared.
Nelly was also arrested in October 2017 in Auburn, Washington, south of Seattle, after a woman alleged he sexually assaulted her on his tour bus. Rosenblum said at the time that the allegations were trumped up.
The woman filed a lawsuit against Nelly, who countersued. In September 2018, their lawsuit was settled.
