Neil Patrick Harris’ family sweetly supports him at the Broadway opening of Peter Pan Goes Wrong

Following his guest starring roles on Hulu’s How I Met Your Father, Neil Patrick Harris and his family turned up glamor to the opening night of his Broadway play Peter Pan Goes Wrong at Manhattan’s Ethel Barrymore Theater on Wednesday.

The New Mexico-born 49-year-old – who came out publicly in 2006 – was joined on the red carpet by his husband of eight years, David Burtka, and their 12-year-old twins Gideon Scott and Harper Grace.

Neil’s pre-teens donned a black suit and yellow ruffled floral dress, respectively, while the 47-year-old actor-chef also donned a black suit with loafers.

Harris — who relied on groomer Amy Komorowski — wore a chambray blazer over a gray striped button-up, black slacks and matching boots selected by stylist Sam Spector.

The Uncoupled producer star hasn’t starred in a Broadway show since his Tony Award-winning role in Hedwig and the Angry Inch at the Belasco Theater in 2015.

It’s all relative! The New Mexico-born 49-year-old — who came out publicly in 2006 — was joined on the red carpet by his husband of eight years, David Burtka (R), and their 12-year-old twins Gideon Scott (2-L) and Harper Grace (2-R)

‘[It’s] nice to be back,” said Neil Broadway world on Wednesday.

“I’m surrounded by some of the most talented people I’ve ever seen doing a level of comedy that’s brutal and very physical, and I’m in a very lucky place.”

Harris admitted he only had two days of rehearsal and one technical rehearsal to prepare for the role of Francis, who is the narrator of the play-within-a-play.

“My role is not huge,” the former child star confessed.

“But what I like about this level of comedy is that it’s very technical. It’s like a multi-level dance – things happen backstage, costume changes, and props that need to be in specific bags, in specific places. By sitting in an audience and watching the chaos, it feels much more spontaneous than it actually is.’

Fans can catch Neil as Francis until April 30, but international theater company Mischief’s highly physical slapstick comedy, directed by Adam Meggido, runs until July 9.

Peter Pan Goes Wrong originally premiered at London’s Pleasance Theater in 2013 and led to a UK tour, two successful West End runs and a BBC One TV special.

Meanwhile, David – who started dating Harris in 2004 – started previews on Tuesday at Theater Breaking Through Borders’ off-Broadway revival of God of Carnage, which runs from April 27 to May 20 at Theater Row in Manhattan.

The five-time Emmy winner will begin filming the second season of Darren Star and Jeffrey Richman’s rom-com series Uncoupled in New York City from May 30 to August 4.

Neil plays the newly bachelor real estate agent Michael Lawson in the ‘certified fresh’ show, which was picked up by the renamed “Paramount+ with Showtime” after Netflix canceled it in January.
