Neil Morrissey claims he helped friend of 40 years Adrian Dunbar land Line of Duty role

Neil Morrissey has claimed that Adrian Dunbar got a role in Line of Duty thanks to him.

The actors have been close friends for 42 years since they met on the day of their audition for the Guildhall drama school in London.

And joking with his friend, the 60-year-old Men Behaving Badly star claimed he “got” Adrian’s job.

He said, ‘She’ll hate me to tell you this, but I got her the job.’

Adrian, 64, responded: “He claims if it wasn’t for him, he wouldn’t have gotten the job.” I am absolutely fine with him stating that.

Adrian, best known for his role as Chief Superintendent Ted Hastings, appeared in all six series of the hit BBC drama.

Meanwhile, Neil starred in the first three seasons of Line of Duty as Nigel Morton and left after his character’s retirement.

The couple just finished filming. for an episode of ITV’s DNA Journey.

In the special, Neil is especially interested in meeting his family, having been taken care of when he was just 10 years old.

He discovers that he is 1 percent Scottish and 99 percent Irish.

‘99%! I can’t wait to tell everyone I know about it,” she says on the show.

It comes after Adrian revealed that he is interested in filming a seventh season of Line Of Duty as filming “wasn’t as fun” with the Covid restrictions.

The actor added fuel to speculation that the BBC drama could return to the small screen.

He said radio schedules: There is still no update on whether we can expect a seventh season. I think, in general, everyone is willing to do something, but I think we will have to wait a little longer.

It wasn’t that fun. We couldn’t hang out, we couldn’t go out. We were all in a kind of bubble, so it just didn’t have the same feeling, which is one of the reasons we’d like to do another one.

And when asked if he would be available to reprise his role in a spinoff, the Irish star replied: ‘You will always be in the market to consider anything people throw at you.

‘So I mean, that would be interesting. Yes is the answer to that I guess.

It comes after Adrian confirmed that he helped film a hilarious parody version of Line Of Duty that poked fun at former Metropolitan Police Commissioner Cressida Dick.

Last year, the actor appeared in a viral video that showed him in the role of Superintendent Ted Hastings while questioning Dame Cressida.

The video, created by political campaign group Led By Donkeys, is edited with clips from the BBC show and clips from the retired senior official’s speech.

In the video, Dame Cressida is seen saying: “We have a long-standing and effective working relationship with the cabinet office.”

The camera then cuts to Hastings, who responds: ‘Who exactly does the Metropolitan Police work for? Our citizens or Boris Johnson?

When the video was first released in January, Dame Cressida was facing questions about No. 10’s Lockdown party scandal.

Cressida Dick announced on 10 February 2022 that she was leaving her post with the Metropolitan Police after losing the trust of London Mayor Sadiq Khan.

Adrian noted that he had previously spoken negatively about Line Of Duty in the past, taking issue with the description of the corruption program in the police force.

He said: “She gave us a terrible review, saying the show was dead wrong on everything.” He really didn’t like us! Luckily, many other people did.

Adrian was catapulted to superstardom when the show from BBC2 to BBC1 in 2017, doubling its audience to around 10 million.
