Petty reason neighbour threatened to call cops next door sparks backlash: ‘I bet you’re a blast at parties’
A former radio presenter has divided Australians after threatening to call the police on his neighbor for playing the drums too loudly at night.
Mitch Churi, who previously worked at KIIS FM, shared footage on TikTok of his neighbor playing the drums on Christmas Day at 8:30 p.m.
“POV (point of view) your neighbor got a drum set for Christmas,” he wrote in the caption.
Footage showed the neighbor surrounded by several guests dressed in Christmas attire as he continued to play.
“It’s Christmas night, 7:30, this can’t be happening,” Churi said as he filmed from his balcony.
‘He’s in. Who does he perform for? Oh the family, they sit and watch!’
Churi said he was going to call the police because of the unrest.
Dozens of commenters were baffled by his complaint and wondered whether the issue warranted a police visit.

“Did the police laugh at you?” wrote one person.
“I don’t even think the police will be there,” someone else wrote.
A third added: ‘I bet it’s yours [sic] a blast at parties.’
Others said the noise was harmless and urged Churi to get into the festive spirit by letting others enjoy the holiday.
“Dude, it’s 8:30 on a holiday, let him have some fun,” one person wrote.
“It’s Santa Claus if this was so [on] I might understand it on a Monday at 10am, but 7:30 isn’t even too late,” someone else wrote.
“There are noise laws for a reason and he has the right to do whatever he wants,” said a third.
Some agreed with Churi’s complaint and said people should be considerate of other residents.

“As long as he’s having fun, who cares if he makes life miserable for his neighbors, right?” one person scoffed.
“I should never put up with that shit,” someone else wrote.
“It’s noise pollution,” a third commented.
Many saw the funnier side and praised Churi for uploading the satirical video.
“He takes the p**s and we all need people like that at parties,” one person wrote.
“How dare that person have fun with his family,” another person added.
Churi later uploaded a humorous video on Boxing Day, saying the issue was resolved in a cheeky joke to the dozens of commenters who objected to his complaint.
‘Update on the drum set situation, the police have been called [and] they have arrived,” he said.
‘They arrested him… and the drum kit [was] confiscated and about to be destroyed.”
A noise level of five decibels above the background noise in the area is permitted in residential areas in NSW between 7am and 10pm.
Churi was the former co-host of The Pick Up drive time program, hosted by former Bachelorette stars Laura Byrne and Brittany Hockley.
He announced in November that he had been fired from the network after eight years at the station.
