Neighbors star Annie Jones reveals the staggering number of episodes the soap’s new season has already filmed for Amazon ahead of its debut

Neighbors has more than a hundred episodes in store when the debut episode of the rebooted soap airs next week on the streaming platform Amazon.

On Friday’s episode of The Project, returning stars Annie Jones and Ryan Maloney said the show, which has been filming since April, is more than ready for its new season.

“We started filming in April, so it took a really long time to really keep everything top secret,” Ryan said.

“I think we’re close to a hundred episodes,” Annie said, as Ryan confirmed, “Yes, we made a hundred.”

He added: “We’ve already done that, so yeah. I mean, we did 9,000 too, but we’re at 100 for Amazon now, yeah.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Ryan hinted that some beloved characters could die as a result of the show’s two-year time jump.

“There will be some of the best and some of the worst and everyone will be heartbroken,” he said.

“There are some new faces to fall in love with, and some old faces that are gone for you to cry,” Ryan continued, before coyly insisting that he “don’t know” if anyone will die.

Meanwhile, Annie said it was ‘fantastic’ working with co-star Guy Pearce again.

The pair stole the show during last year’s Neighbors finale when they reprized their respective characters Mike and Jane for the iconic drama’s swan song.

Executive producer Jason Herbison confirmed in May that Pearce would reprise his role in the soap opera, which was rebooted in April and is filmed in Melbourne.

“We are thrilled that Guy is returning to continue Mike and Jane’s reunion. It was a highlight of last year’s finale and (there’s) certainly more story to be told for these beloved characters,” Herbison said in a statement to The Sun Herald.

Pearce returned to Neighbors for the show’s finale in July last year.

His character, along with Jane Harris (played by Annie Jones), was seen buying a house in Ramsay Street during the show’s final episode.
