A North Carolina teacher accused of having sex with a student broke her bail after drinking in her car with two youths, according to police.
Elizabeth Bailey, 37, was detained by police Saturday after she was involved in a car accident on Mocksville Highway in Statesville.
Two children who were with the fired teacher ran away before police arrived, according to the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office.

Bailey was in the front passenger seat and admitted to drinking. She had given one of the youths permission to drive the car without a driver’s license, the summons obtained by Fox said.
The science teacher was ordered by the court to stay away from the student she was allegedly dating as part of her parole.
Bailey was held on charges of violating parole, and the highway patrol cited her for a felony contributing to the delinquency of a minor and another felony for allowing an unlicensed driver to drive.
The two youths who fled the crime scene were later tracked down by the police. One of them has been taken into custody due to an outstanding juvenile detention.
Bailey was released without an additional bond, despite breaking her bail conditions due to her relationship with the under-16 student.
“Our agency has been notified that District Court Judge Christine Underwood has amended the bond to strike out the $750,000 bond issued by the magistrate,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement.

“Bailey will remain under a bond issued as of October 2022… This investigation is ongoing and additional charges may follow.”
She worked at Northview Academy in Statesville until she was suspended last year before stepping down in October.
In total, Bailey faces 24 charges, including felony statutory rape of a child 15 or younger and felony harassment or interference with a state witness.
Bailey was initially given a $750,000 bond, but this was later reduced to $50,000.
