Zion Williamson recently announced that he and his girlfriend are expecting a child, and it’s possible that another big life change is coming this summer for the former No. 1 overall pick.
The Pelicans, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, wants to draft Scoot Henderson but are ill-positioned to do so at the moment with the 14th pick. Henderson would go no later than No. 3 overall.
That means what once seemed unthinkable – making Williamson available – could be on the table to get Henderson.
‘I’ve been told [The Pelicans] going after Scoot Henderson… Are the Pelicans internally looking hard to move Zion Williamson,” Charania asked on FanDuel TV’s “Run it Back.”
A two-time All-Star with already a career average of 25.8 points per game, Williamson definitely showed why the Pelicans – and the rest of the league – saw him as a generational talent coming out of Duke in 2019.

But the bruised striker has hardly been on the pitch as he made just 29 appearances last season, missed the entire 2021-2022 campaign and has only crossed the 60-game mark once in his four years so far.
And Williamson’s off-season also got off to a rocky start in his personal life, as he was called out online by porn star Moriah Mills after announcing that he and girlfriend Ahkeema were expecting a child.
Mills went on a Twitter tirade after the news went public, claiming she had slept with the Pelicans star the week before, saying he “better praying” she wasn’t pregnant.

The adult performer also later released alleged texts between the pair.
While there is no public indication that the Pelicans are angry with Williamson over the situation, the 22-year-old could still find himself in the trading bloc in the coming weeks.
ESPN’s Brian Windhorst confirmed what Charania reported, saying the Pelicans have had “volatile discussions” about switching to Henderson, who played for G League Ignite last year.
“No offers necessarily have been made yet, but it really doesn’t make you go too far to wonder… and the league is definitely wondering if the Pelicans are really going to make Zion Williamson available for the first time ahead of next week’s draft,’ he said said on ‘Get up.’
The NBA Draft is on June 22 in New York.
