Steven Adams can afford to live a comfortable life, earning $12.6 million to play for the Houston Rockets this season, combined with the $100 million he has earned in his career.
It came as a shock to fans when Adams posted a photo of his bedroom to his Instagram account this week that it was barely empty.
The post was captioned “new beginnings” with a praying hands emoji and showed a small bedroom that could barely fit his bed.
The bed appeared to have no frame and was placed on the floor. There was nothing hanging in the room, with only a few of Adams’ personal belongings on the windowsill.
After the immediate shock of Adam’s minimalist lifestyle faded, a few fans explained what the big man’s bedroom actually says about him.

“Men can survive like this, it’s not that big of a deal,” said someone on X.
‘In my eyes the room is complete.’
“Bro’s saving…when he starts making moves, they’re going to be huge.”
‘Fortress of solitude… women won’t understand.’

Adams is about to begin his first full season with the Rockets after being traded from the Grizzlies in February.
He didn’t repeat the success he had as a mainstay with the Oklahoma City Thunder in his next two career stops with New Orleans and Memphis.
Still, the nearly empty bedroom could be just what he needs to fully focus on basketball and return to his dominant behavior.
