Luka Doncic’s home in Dallas was burglarized on Friday.
NBA reporter Marc Stein quoted Doncic’s manager Lara Beth Seager as saying: “No one was home at the time and thankfully Luka and his family are safe.”
“Luka has reported the matter to the police and an investigation is underway.”
It marks the latest episode in a worrying trend of elite athletes being targeted. Stein said the NBA sent out a warning after several NFL stars’ homes were burglarized.
Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce both had their Kansas City homes targeted earlier this year, along with Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow.
The Mavericks star is currently injured with a calf problem, but his team played the Phoenix Suns on Friday night.
Kelce’s $6 million mansion was raided by thieves in October, with the Super Bowl winner reportedly losing some precious belongings.
Luka Doncic became the latest top athlete to have his home broken into on Friday
That included $100,000 in jewelry, $20,000 in cash, his first Super Bowl jersey and a watch that has since been found in Rhode Island.
The FBI continues to investigate the case and Kelce, who was reportedly “upset and angry” about being robbed, responded by beefing up his home security amid an NFL warning that a South American crime gang could be behind several players who stole it be a target.
Chiefs quarterback Mahomes spoke briefly about the incident in November, saying, “It’s obviously frustrating and disappointing.
‘I can’t go into too many details because the investigation is still ongoing, but it’s clearly something you wouldn’t want to happen to anyone, other than yourself of course.
“I can’t say much about the details of everything yet as the investigation is still ongoing, but I’m sure that will be discussed at some point.”
