NBA ROUNDUP: 76ers rally from 18-point deficit to stun Eastern-leading Bucks

Joel Embiid hit a go-ahead 3-pointer with 41.4 seconds left and the Philadelphia 76ers rallied from an 18-point deficit to beat Milwaukee 133-130 on Saturday, snapping the Bucks’ 16-game winning streak.

Milwaukee had the longest winning streak of any NBA team since the Phoenix Suns posted 18 straight wins early last season.

The 76ers trailed 125-121 before James Harden, who scored a game-high 38 points, hit a 3-pointer with 1:21 remaining. After Giannis Antetokounmpo missed a shot around the rim, Embiid hit a 3-pointer that gave Philadelphia its first lead of the second half.

After Jrue Holiday missed a 3-point attempt with 25 seconds remaining, the 76ers went 6-for-6 from the line the rest of the way to seal the win.

Harden added 10 assists and nine rebounds. Embiid had 31 points, 10 assists and six rebounds. Tyrese Maxey added 26 points and Georges Niang had 16.

Antetokounmpo had 34 points and 13 rebounds for Milwaukee. Brook Lopez and Holiday each added 26 points. Grayson Allen had 20, all in the third quarter.

The 76ers made this comeback without a couple of key players.

Philadelphia’s Tobias Harris sat out the second half with a sore left calf and PJ Tucker sat out the fourth quarter with back spasms. Harris had three points in 13 minutes, while Tucker had two points in 19 minutes.

Milwaukee had built a 19-point lead in the second half thanks in large part to Allen’s hot streak.

After going scoreless and attempting just one shot in the first half, Allen scored 20 points in the first 9 minutes, 19 seconds of the third quarter. He went 6 for 6 from 3-point range during that stretch.

Allen capped his scoring in the third quarter with a 3-pointer that gave Milwaukee a 95-77 lead with 2:41 remaining in the third.

The 76ers erased almost all of that deficit in about 5 1/2 minutes.

Philadelphia trailed 99-85 at the end of three quarters, but scored the first nine points of the quarter. The 76ers cut Milwaukee’s lead to 101-100 on Harden’s three-point play with 9:07 left.

Antetokounmpo responded with a three-point play that gave the Bucks a breather, but the 76ers kept coming and eventually tied the game at 108 on Niang’s 3-pointer with 6:23 to play.

Milwaukee regained the lead when Antetokounmpo drove, scored and fouled Embiid for a three-point play with 5:55 to play.

Once again, the 76ers responded. And this time, they finally reclaimed the lead and made sure it stayed.

CABALLEROS 114, PISTONS 90

Darius Garland had 21 points and seven assists, Donovan Mitchell scored 20 points and Cleveland defeated Detroit.

Evan Mobley had 16 points, 11 rebounds, six assists and four blocked shots, Jarrett Allen scored 15 points and Caris LeVert had 11. The Cavaliers are fourth in the Eastern Conference with 16 games remaining.

All-Star starter Mitchell, who sprained a finger on his left hand in the third quarter, and Garland each played just 24 minutes as the Cavaliers swept the season’s four-game series with Detroit. The Pistons stayed under 95 points in each.

Cleveland is 40-26 and leads New York by 1 1/2 games for home-field advantage in the first round of the playoffs.

`Marvin Bagley III had 20 points and 13 rebounds for Detroit. The Pistons have the second worst record in the NBA at 15-49. They have lost seven in a row overall and seven in a row on the road.

ROCKETS 122, SPURS 110

Tari Eason matched her season high with 20 points and Houston ended an 11-game losing streak by beating San Antonio.

Alperen Sengun had 16 points and KJ Martin and Josh Christopher each added 14 points for the Rockets in the opener of a home-and-home series. Last in the NBA at 14-49, he hadn’t won since February 1.

Devonte´ Graham had 28 points to lead San Antonio.

The teams will play again on Sunday night in Houston to close out a straight set.

HEAT 117, HAWKS 109

Bam Adebayo scored 30 points and Miami held Trae Young to a season-low eight points in a win over Atlanta.

Tyler Herro added 20 points, and Jimmy Butler and Caleb Martin each finished with 15 for the Heat. They extended their lead over the Hawks to 1 1/2 games for seventh place in the Eastern Conference.

Young was 2 of 13 from the field. Saddiq Bey had 22 points for Atlanta. The Hawks are 1-2 under new coach Quin Snyder.

RAPTORS 116, WIZARDS 109, OT

Fred VanVleet hit two 3-pointers in overtime and added 25 points to help Toronto beat Washington in two games.

Gary Trent Jr. scored 26 points for the Raptors and VanVleet had 10 assists. Toronto rebounded from a 119-108 loss on Thursday night to move ahead of the Wizards for ninth place in the Eastern Conference.

Kristaps Porzingis had 22 points and 11 rebounds for the Wizards. Bradley Beal added 21 points and 10 assists, but shot just 7-for-22 and missed a jumper that could have won it in regulation.

TIMBER WOLVES 138, KINGS 134

Anthony Edwards scored 27 points and the Minnesota Timberwolves beat Sacramento 138-134 on Saturday to snap the Kings’ five-game winning streak.

Edwards added eight assists to help Minnesota (34-32) win its third straight. Mike Conley scored 24 points and made two free throws with 15.7 seconds left to extend the lead to four.

Jaden McDaniels added 19 points and Kyle Anderson nearly had a triple-double with 18 points, nine assists and seven rebounds. Rudy Gobert had 13 points and 14 rebounds.

Kevin Huerter scored 29 points for Sacramento (37-26). He made six triples. De’Aaron Fox had 25 points and seven assists, and Domantas Sabonis had 24 points, 14 rebounds and five assists.
