NBA player Cameron Payne has reportedly been arrested in Arizona after police say he gave them a false report.

The security guard was arrested Friday morning after Scottsdale police were called around 2:44 a.m. to investigate a disturbance and “came into contact” with Payne and another person, according to TMZ.

TMZ says it’s unclear what exactly led to Payne’s arrest, but he could soon be charged with one count of refusing to provide a true name and one count of making a false report to law enforcement.

Payne was reportedly released not long after his arrest.

The 29-year-old last played for the Sixers after being traded to the Milwaukee team from the Bucks.

Payne, currently an unrestricted free agent, is entering his tenth NBA season.

Since being drafted in the first round of the 2014 NBA Draft, he has suited up for a slew of teams, including the Thunder, Bulls and Suns.

Phoenix was his longest stint when he spent parts of four seasons there.

Payne played a pivotal role on the Suns’ 2020-21 NBA Finals team as he scored 9.3 points per game in 22 postseason appearances that year.
