An Australian confectionery manufacturer has made a major change to one of the country’s most beloved sweets to cater to health-conscious consumers.
From July, the Natural Confectionery Co. Australian retailers are supplying bags of slimy snakes that contain 50 percent less sugar.
The Australian-made jelly, which contains no artificial colours, flavors or sweeteners, is available in five delicious flavors including raspberry, blackcurrant, boysenberry, mango and lime
The new product range contains half the sugar compared to the average amount of sugar in other lollies, meeting the demand for lower sugar snacks.
Mondelez International vice-president of marketing Australia and New Zealand Ben Wicks said they were excited to expand the range with the introduction of an all-time Australian favourite.
“This product brings one of Australia’s best-loved lollies into a better-for-you option, serving the growing consumer interest in lollies with less sugar, while still tasting great,” he said.
The New Natural Confectionery Co. 50% less sugar* Snakes lollipops will be available at supermarkets nationwide from July for around $5.
