The national construction association offers free personal clinics for dementia patients in 200 of its branches, providing patients and their families with support in the areas of health and finances.
The association is funding 30 Dementia UK Admiral Nurses, specialist staff who will work on the charity’s high street and in its wards. helpline.
Members and customers from outside Nationwide can schedule a 45-minute appointment at the clinic for free.
They can be booked up to 14 days in advance at Dementia UK website or in a branch.
The nurses provide advice on topics such as understanding a diagnosis, concerns about symptoms, legal issues and how best to care for someone with dementia.
They also provide emotional support to anyone dealing with dementia, including family members and caregivers.
From August 13, the locations will be visited at least once every three months by an admiral nurse, from Tuesday to Thursday.
Dementia is the leading cause of death in the region. Around 1 million people in the UK are living with dementia, and by 2024 that is expected to rise to 1.6 million, costing the UK economy an annual £90 billion by 2040.
It is predicted that this initiative will reach more than 10% of them. Nationwide’s plan will provide assistance to more than 100,000 patients.
Dr Hilda Hayo, Chief Nurse and Chief Executive at Dementia UK, said: “With the number of people living with dementia in the UK set to exceed 1 million in the next year, this timely partnership will be vital as we expand our services and reach to ensure no one faces dementia alone.”
