The National Archives is being forced to hand over records of then-Vice President Joe Biden’s activities related to Ukraine, which House Republicans say “overlap” with his son Hunter’s business dealings in the country.

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer sent a letter obtained by DailyMail.com to United States Archivist Colleen Shogan requesting that documents in the Biden Vice Presidential Records Collection be reviewed in their unredacted format.

They are specifically seeking “unrestricted special access” to “email communications to and/or from Vice President Biden and Hunter Biden regarding Burisma and Ukraine.”

Comer is also asking for “all drafts” of then-VP Biden’s December 9, 2015 speech to the Ukrainian Rada. During the speech, Biden praised his efforts against corruption in the country and pushed for an overhaul and reform of the office. of the prosecutor.

At the time, top Ukrainian prosecutor Viktor Shokin was investigating oil company Burisma Holdings for corruption – the same company of which Hunter was a sitting board member.

According to a document on the Archives site, there is a document that “indicates on May 27, 2016 at 9 a.m. that Vice President Biden made a phone call with the President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko.”

However, it is of concern to the committee that this document was sent to “Robert L. Peters” – a pseudonym the committee identified as then-Vice President Biden. In addition, the committee questions why then-Vice President Biden’s son, Hunter Biden — and only Hunter Biden — was copied to then-Vice President Biden in this email.”

The Republicans are seeking “any document or communication” with Robert Peters, Robin Ware and JRB Ware as the sender or recipient. They also demand communication between Hunter Biden and his business partners Devon Archer and Eric Schwerin.

Their demands come after Archer, Hunter Biden’s ex-business partner, testified to the House Oversight Committee earlier this month that Joe Biden’s “brand” was protecting Burisma because “people would be intimidated into messing with them.”

Hunter’s presence on Burisma’s board and access to his father — then vice president — led to the company’s “longevity” because they had the “abilities to navigate DC,” Archer said, according to the transcript.

Hunter’s best friend and business partner served on Burisma’s board of directors with him from 2014. They also co-founded Rosemont Seneca Partners, an investment advisory firm.

He confirmed that over a 10-year period, Hunter put Joe on speakerphone 20 times during business meetings, which was a “signal” of “value,” and Hunter used his father as “defensive leverage.”

He also told lawmakers that on at least two occasions Joe sat down and dined in person with Hunter and his foreign business partners, who then transferred money to companies affiliated with Biden almost immediately afterwards.

The then vice president also attended another dinner with Hunter and his partners in 2015 at Cafe Milano in Washington, DC, Archer confirmed.

“Dear hunter,” reads a note from a Ukrainian manager after dinner. “Thanks for inviting me to DC and giving me the chance to meet your dad and spend some time together.”

At another dinner with Burisma executives at the Four Seasons in Dubai, Hunter said he could get “help from DC” to ease some “government pressure” on the company.

Archer testified that Burisma was “under pressure,” and as a result, “they asked Hunter, you know, to help them with some of that pressure.”

He said it was “government pressure” because of the ongoing Ukrainian investigation into the company at the time – led by top prosecutor Shokin.

However, Archer said Shokin “wasn’t specifically on my radar as an individual targeting him.”

‘But yes, there was constant pressure. And it was like it was like hitting a mole with regard to the pressure that had to go,” Archer continued.

He said Burisma executives were not specific in directly asking “can the big man help?”

Rather, they used the “amorphous” term, “can we get help in DC?”

Archer understood that “DC” meant Hunter’s influence based on his connection to his VP father at the time.

“Well, I mean, he was a lobbyist and an expert and he obviously had, you know, a very powerful name. So I think it was what they asked for,” Archer said.

In March 2016, Joe Biden allegedly threatened to withhold $1 billion in aid to Ukraine if Shokin was not fired for corruption, which he eventually did.

“Joe Biden has stated that there was ‘an absolute wall’ between his family’s foreign business plans and his duties as vice president, but evidence shows that access was wide open to his family’s influence,” Comer said in a statement to DailyMail.com.

“We already have evidence that then-Vice President Biden spoke, dined and had coffee with his son’s foreign business associates. We also know that Hunter Biden and his associates were briefed on then-Vice President Biden’s official government duties in countries where they had a financial interest.”

Archer also added that Hunter Biden would refer to his father as “my man,” which Republicans took note of after Monday’s closed-door testimony.

According to the transcript, Hunter was “paid a lot of money” by Burisma and “wanted to show value” by getting credit for Joe Biden’s previous trip to Ukraine in 2014.

“I can’t guide my dad in what he’s going to do on this trip, but let’s take credit for it,” Archer said, referring to his dad as “my husband.”
