- Nathan Cleary says he is open to a move to Britain
- NRL star will be closer to girlfriend Mary Fowler
- He says he likes not being recognized in Britain
NRL superstar Nathan Cleary has sensationally revealed he is open to a possible move to the Super League competition, where he would join his Matildas striker Mary Fowler in England.
The sporty power couple has been making headlines since Daily Mail Australia exclusively documented their first public appearance together in early November last year.
Fowler, who plays for Women’s Super League club Manchester City, has since returned to her home in Britain – and now Cleary has indicated he could join her.
The three-time premiership-winning halfback, who is currently in England ahead of Sunday’s World Club Challenge match against Wigan, told the Mirror that he is open to the switch.
‘I’m not against it (a Super League move). I’m pretty open to things like that,” Cleary said.

‘I think experiencing different cultures and different experiences is something I enjoy doing. I’m not closed to that idea.’
The Penrith Panthers are staying in Manchester and Cleary loves being able to walk around the city undisturbed.
“I was lucky enough to spend almost two months in Manchester for the World Cup and really enjoyed it,” he said.
‘I’m lucky that I now know something about the city and know where everything is, so it’s good to be back.
‘I actually really like being able to just wander through the streets and no one knows who you are. I think I was only recognized once. It’s a nice change (to Sydney).”
Cleary told The sun that life in England is also attractive for other reasons.
‘I have great admiration for the English fans, the way they sing and get into it. I’m sure I’ll get quite a bit of support from the Wigan supporters, but I’m looking forward to that.
‘But I do enjoy being able to just live a normal life and at some point in the future I wouldn’t be so opposed to trying it here.

‘But first I have plenty to do at Penrith. Winning the World Club Challenge is one of them.’
The World Club Challenge between Penrith and Wigan starts on Saturday 24 February at 8pm local time. For fans in Australia, the match starts at 7am on Sunday.
